Made it down to Clear Lake today to see the houses and boat. Results are:

1. The new house (K's House): Zero damage besides branches in the yard. My hard-won hard-wood floors remain unsullied. No power as of today, but as soon as the power comes on the house will be livable.

2. K's apartment: No damage.

3. My boat: Couldn't get close enough to see it due to the roadblocks, but I actually found a picture of her on the web. Some dude driving through the day after the storm snapped a picture of the marina and you can clearly see my boat, intact and still moored at the dock. Even the mainsail is still on the boom, which I thought would not be there. So, boat appears to be fine, I'll have to see later if any windows got busted or anything. From that picture, I may have lost the bimini. Not calling insurance on her yet until I can get close enough to see.

4. My house: My house is very squishy. The water came up about a foot into the living area, so that equals around 10 feet of water from the ground. Some paneling is gone. The first floor storage area is mostly gone ("it's a lot brighter in there"). Furniture, bed, etc all got wet. Electronics are all ok, they were high enough. Carpet soaked. Roof missing a few shingles. Deck railing is gone. Wall with new window... totally intact, of course. So, if all goes well, the insurance can pay for new exterior paneling, new carpet, and a new deck railing... three things that were not great prizes to begin with. I forgot to look at the drywall, not sure if that needs replacing. On the good side, that ugly fence of my neighbors that blocked my view of the water is blown down, so that probably increased my property value by $10000. They also lost their whole roof, that's not good. In fact, my house is pretty lucky for the neighborhood. I always thought it was sturdy, after surviving since 1965. The gas station I filled up at right before evacuating was completely underwater and is barely recognizable.

We're all off work until Monday, so that's good. All in all, we're all safe and happy, with one squishy house. I'll send pictures when I get them off my camera.
